Watching the sudden seagulls in the garden, I wondered what brought
them here as we are miles from any seawater.
ALWAYS OUT THERE
Those seagulls in our garden
Are a long way from water.
Doing what we all do, I suppose,
Looking for a future
Just a little bit better.

I often have the very same thoughts! We are about 35miles from the sea in either direction yet still here they are!

I think they’re contemplating taking over from the magpies – but not from the crows who are so fierce!
Do you wish the sea was closer? I do, then we could go more often.

And the racket they make Gwen! I’m no where near sea here in north London, but the noise can be defeaning! Lovely poem.

I do and I don’t. I have been fortunate enough to live on the coast for over a third of my life and enjoy the countryside but there is nothing to beat the smell of the sea and the colours of the waves!

I love seagulls! They set my mind to wondering about all kinds of things, most of which have nothing at all to do with the sea!
